Clever ad idea from Mini

Jan 11, 2007   //   by Pema   //   Uncategorized  //  No Comments

This is a great little ad idea. Apparently select Mini owners were recently sent RFID key fobs and asked to pick a special personalized message that would play on digital billboards when they drove past.

This is a great way to get Mini owners talking to their friends about how much they love their Mini – and this kind of word of mouth is a great way to sell more of the little exports from Oxford.

Full disclosure. I’m a Mini owner. I drive it, I like it. But I’m not one of those obsessive Mini people.

Communist’s Daughter

Every Saturday from 4 ’til 7 the Communist’s Daughter has a live band. It’s a chilled out vibe and the singer/trumpet player also fixes you your drinks. Worth a look if you’re in the neighborhood.

Schadenfreude

There is something about watching people play pool in a small jammed up space that makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. I think it’s the schadenfreude in me.

A way to sync Google Calendars and iCal

Jan 10, 2007   //   by Pema   //   Startup  //  1 Comment

SpanSyncThis will be a very cool little app for people using Google Calendars and iCal (me!) if it does what they claim. Apparently it’s only a few weeks away from public beta.

I love the idea that there are thousands of people infinitely smarter than me figuring out ways to use the tools I love better and writing great little extensions for them. Thank you!

Canadian squash classic

Jan 10, 2007   //   by Pema   //   Toronto  //  No Comments

I’m not really sure how I ended up in a theater watching the Canadian Squash Classic tonight but the crowd is going crazy and it’s actually quite fun. Weird, the places you sometimes find yourself.

Google Calculator

Sometimes I’m a little slow on the uptake so I apologize if this is old news.

I came across Google calculator for the first time today – completely by accident. The premise is you can type any calculation into the Google search bar and it will figure it out for you and provide the answer on the results page. Nice. I love that I stumbled across this rather than reading about it. Sometimes the web is so serendipitous.
