How do you like the new Microsoft campaign now?

I’ve been the lone supporter of the new Microsoft ad campaign in our office. I think it’s fun, does a lot to humanize Microsoft and, most importantly, it’s got people talking about the company!

Ad one and two did nothing for my co-workers at GigPark. Let’s see if the new spot changes their minds :) …

Delicious

We made Kheer tonight from a recipe my mom gave me a few years ago (she lived in India for a long time). As we were scoffing it down I thought… this is too good not to share! So, here is how to make Kheer, the delicious Indian dessert made with rice, milk and sugar. Enjoy!

Mom’s recipe for Kheer

In a litre of milk add about 2 tablespoons of rice – I use whatever rice I have but probably not basmati and short grain is best.

While the milk heats up you need to keep stirring so that the rice doesn’t stick to the bottom – a stir every minute or so is fine.  Also throw in a bay leaf or two. For a different taste you can also add a whole cardamon pod and a couple of cloves.  Once the milk has come to the boil turn it right down so it is just simmering and keep stirring every now and then.  Don’t scrape the bottom too much as there will always be a bit of burnt milk stuck to the bottom and you don’t want that taste – if it does taste of burnt milk at any time put in a pinch of salt.

Now you just keep it bubbling for and hour or so until it really starts to thicken. If you are cooking for more than 4 you might want to use more milk and rice at 1T of rice per 500mls milk.

Once it is thick take it off the stove and add 2 heaped tablespoons of sugar, I like raw sugar.  It should be rich and sweet – forget about diets.  Put it in a bowl and serve it warm with fruit salad and maybe some home made ice cream.

[Thanks mom!]

UPDATED:
1. I know – two tablespoons of rice doesn’t sound like enough. But it is.
2. Add crushed pistachio nuts for extra deliciousness.
