Getting to know the Don Valley

May 19, 2009   //   by Pema   //   Toronto  //  3 Comments

Ros and I take possession of our new house at Queen East and Larchmount Ave in a few days (more on that later).

The move will mean we will be a lot closer to the beaches and the incredible Don Valley. I’d almost forgotten how great the mountain biking is in the Don. Aside from the North Shore in Vancouver, the Don is probably one of the best trail networks in a major city.

Here is a map of a ride I did with my friend Mark in the weekend. Apparently we didn’t even get to the upper sections. Have fun in the trails!

  • great to hear you are hitting up the trails on your bike.

  • You bet! It’s defiantly not the North Shore but it’s fun in the Don. Are you riding much now Michael?

  • yeh. I have roadie, a mountain bike and a commuter. The roadie is an 05 Giant OCR 0, mountain bike is 07 Giant Trance, cause my old bike got a cracked frame. Giant replaced the frame but many parts of still from my time in Vancouver. Commuter is a mid-90′s fully rigid mountain bike. (Pretty much vintage in the world of mountain biking.) I also do some trail advocacy work in Canberra.

My club is hosting the world championships this year. That will be great.

So answer appears to be ‘yes’ and loving it.
